About Elements of a Teacher!
Hi, I’m Shannon! I’m a passionate Early Years teacher and mum of two, with a love for creating engaging, evidence-based resources that make learning exciting for both teachers and students.
I can still remember my first teaching prac, I had such a love for creating resources (see the pictures). I remember posting on my personal stories and receiving messages if I had Teachers Pay Teachers and others asking if they could get a copy. However, I wanted to put all my focus on my students and learning all the ins and outs of being a teacher. When I started maternity leave, I found myself learning so much in my spare time about phonics and missing resource creation. So whilst Relief Teaching in 2024 I began creating resources for my Teacher Pay Teacher Store: Elements of a Teacher and began sharing them on my Instagram. The response was amazing!
When I began my teaching journey in 2020, I quickly realised how important phonics is to student success. Despite completing a Primary Education degree, I had very little exposure to phonics during my studies—just one subject in my first year. It wasn’t until I taught Prep (Kindergarten) in my second year of teaching that I truly got to understand phonics. This experience sparked a love for the subject and shaped my approach to teaching.
Through Elements of a Teacher, I focus on creating research-backed resources, with a particular emphasis on phonics and math. These resources are designed to support educators, parents, and students by providing practical tools that foster success in the classroom.
All the messages, reviews, every comment, like and purchase is why I continue to do what I do! I’ve been in the education industry since 2015, before transitioning into teaching in 2020. My goal is to inspire a love of learning in the early years while making life a little easier for teachers. With a big mission for 2025 ensuring everyone has access to decodable reading materials… so stay tuned!
Thank you for being part of this journey—I’m so glad you’re here!
